An Extra {Sweet} Card!

Hi there Sweets!

I hope you’ve been having a fabulous summer! And how about the new release? Amazing, right?! Today I’m going to share a way to make your stamped images soft and sweet.  Don’t worry – you can still keep the witty sassy-ness that is Sweet! 🙂

Grab your Sweet Stamps! I chose to use the His & Hers set.  Ack – this one is so much fun! And my daughter always giggles at the ‘underpants stamps,’ LOL!

I wanted to create a soft background, so I measured out some spacing.  Each line I drew was 1.25 inches apart.  I drew a light line, knowing I would need to erase it later.

Then I inked up some grey ink (London Fog by Memento).  I stamped it on a scrap piece of paper first, then onto the panel.  With less ink, the grey was nice and light.

I stamped some undies onto watercolor paper using Versamark (watermark) ink.  Then, I added some white embossing powder and heat set it.

And.. Don’t forget to erase those lines once the ink is 100% dry! Oh, and how about that eraser? It’s been through wars with me.  I’m so picky about erasers – I found one I liked and I kept it! 🙂

To color in the images, I grabbed some watercolor markers (Spectrum Aquas) and scribbled on an acrylic block.  Then, using a waterbrush, I painted the images in.

I wanted to keep the colors soft, so I added quite a bit of water to dilute the colors.

I chose a nice, summery color combo.  This card is perfect for a summer birthday (and for someone with a good sense of humor)!

Next, I fussy cut them out.  I have to say, invest in good scissors! I lost mine last weekend (OK, I think they were accidentally thrown out while I was cleaning) and I tried to fussy cut with other scissors… Let’s just say it did not go well.  I ran out and bought new ones.  These were a breeze! So, if you hate fussy cutting, it’s probably your scissors and not you! 🙂

See how the white embossing powder resists the ink? The watercolors make them look so soft!

Last, but not least, I needed a sentiment.  So, I combined two from the set.  I love how they can be placed together and fit just perfectly!

So, what do you think? Soft and sweet, but with a little bit of sass thrown in, right? Are you going to give this technique a try with your Sweet Stamps? And with what sets????
