I think it’s safe to say that I love using stamps on cards, layouts and even my planner occasionally! But I’ve recently been looking at my stamps and thinking about unconventional ways I can use the stamps, too! That, combined with Pinterest gave way to this fun idea to spice up plain white onesies!
First, I stamped the adorable octopus from the Mr. Octopus stamp set and one of the balloons from Balloons stamp set onto a recycled piece of cardboard (I used the cardboard piece that came in this set of onesies!). Once it was stamped I used my craft knife to carefully cut out the images.
Next, I used that piece as a stencil with some acrylic paint and placed it on the desired locations on the onesies! It was fun to dab the paint through this ‘stencil’ and remove it to see the final image! But be careful not to go loosey goosey with the paint dabber! You only want paint in the desired section! 🙂
For the balloons, I used a different color for the string (navy) and fun happy colors for the balloons themselves! 🙂 I am totally into the color navy lately!
Once the paint had dried, I added some details to the two teal octopuses! I stamped the image with Staz-on black ink over the painted area. This didn’t leave a very dark impression, though, it’s meant to be a guide.
I then went in with a thin paint brush and went over the areas with black acrylic paint to finish it off!
One more quick tip – when applying the paint, be sure to use a piece of cardboard inside the onesie! This will prevent the paint from bleeding to the back of the onesie!
And that’s all she wrote folks!
I hope this inspires you to look at your stamps in a new way!
