Tissue Paper Backgrounds

Hello! It’s DoBea back again, sharing a pocket page with you. 🙂

I have been expanding my repertoire lately and working with mixed media and art journaling products and I have really found that there can be such a crossover between all of the paper crafting techniques out there, even more than I really could have imagined.

So, I thought I would share a quick process that I really have taking a liking to, while also sharing a page.

I have been having a lot of fun working with different mediums and took a real shine to using gel matte medium for gluing things in place.

For the title card I used the gel medium to stick the alpha stickers to the card since they really didn’t want to hold there place with the adhesive they already had on the back. I used a small paintbrush to apply the medium to the card as well to the back of the letter and then brushed it out over the letters again once they were in place.

I also decided to use some patterned tissue paper on a white 3×4 card for some different texture on a background. I crinkled up pieces of the tissue paper and then flattened them out a little before applying the gel medium to the card. Once the tissue paper was laid out, I went back over the top with more medium and let dry.

I ended up using the magical frame fro the On Cherry Street Magical kit and really loved how it turned out. I have many more pictures from this particular zoo visit, so I will be using more of these tissue paper cards to incorporate into more coordinating pages.

Here is the full layout and then some closeups:

I also thought I would make a quick card using this technique  and the new Guac Love stamp to share:

Let me know if this technique is new to you and you happen to try it. We would love to see what you make!! Don’t forget that you can always tag us on Instagram (@sweetstampshop) or share on our Facebook page!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
