Stamping on New Textures

Welcome back Sweets! This is Rachel joining you today to talk all about stamping on different textures. Paper piecing is a favorite stamping technique of mine, but I often forget that there are so many more options than just patterned paper!

We can’t forget about the New Year celebrations, can we?! It’s fun to have an excuse to use bright, shiny, and shimmery papers… ringing in 2015 is a great excuse!

I used three different textured papers for the card. The ‘happy’ is stamped on DCWV foil paper, the balloons on DCWV Glitzy Glitter paper, and the panda is on DCWV Flocked paper… yes, flocked paper! So he feels fuzzy to the touch 🙂 It’s also important that you stamp with a permanent ink such as StazOn or Adirondack. Make sure you allow plenty of drying time before fussy cutting the pieces.

It’s always important to ‘clean up’ the edges after paper piecing. Since the materials are different than regular paper, I used a permanent black marker to outline any messy edges. A Slick Writer from American Crafts works great, or just a normal Sharpie.

I used sharp detail scissors to cut these materials. Now I’m left with a fun New Year’s card filled with some totally different textures! I especially love the fuzzy panda!

I hope I’ve inspired you to try some new textures on your paper pieced cards! Have a fun and safe holiday season and HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Make sure you follow the Sweet Stamp Shop on Facebook so you get all the breaking news on new releases and sales!
