Faux Letterpress Technique

Hi there it’s Lydia here with you today. I don’t know about you but I love the subtle luxury of the letterpress look…. you know the one where the ink is in the de-bossed area. Usually you have to have a machine to achieve this look but I have found a way to get this look using an embossing folder and a Big Shot! Step 1- DSC03536 Take an embossing folder and an ink pad.   Step 2- DSC03539 Carefully ink the raised parts of one side of the embossing powder (the raised parts will be de-bossed on your project).   Step 3- DSC03540 Place your piece of card onto the inked side of the embossing folder and carefully close and run through the Big Shot.   Step 4- DSC03542 When the embossing folder is then opened the ink will be in the de-bossed areas….. if there are any parts in the de-bossed area with no ink just take a small brush with the same ink you have used to fill in the gaps. Pretty cool huh?!?!?! Here’s the finished card….. as there is a lot of detail and texture not a lot else is needed to finish the card. DSC03544 I have stamped the ‘happy’ and ‘anniversary’ from ‘Alpha Tabs’ in the same gold ink as I have done the Faux Letterpress just to keep the whole design clean and simple. alphatabsweb I love this stamp set as every occasion is catered for and every card can be personalized with the letter stamps 🙂 So I really hope you like technique and give it a go! Would love to know what you think? Did you know that Sweet Stamp shop is on Facebook?  We would love it if you joined us over there and ‘liked’ our page. Thank you so much for stopping by! Hugs Lydia x
