Creating A Night Sky Background

Hi there and happy Friday! It’s Lydia here with you today. I just Fridays it means that there is no rush to get up tomorrow morning … although I never have a lay-in there is no rush to get out of bed… nice. Do you have a favourite day ?

Today I’m sharing with you how I create my night-time sky. For this you will need:

  • Distress inks in Salty Ocean and Picked Rasperry
  • Blending Tools
  • Silver Geleto or Silver Mica Powder
  • A stiff brush
  • some water
  • white pigment ink

002t1. Take the piece of card that you want the sky to be on. Using the blending tool and blue Distress Ink cover the piece of card, now this works best if its a little patchy with more ink in some places and less in others.

0042. Next take the Picked Raspberry and blending tool and go over the piece again. Same applies as with the blue, it looks best with less ink in some places and more in others.

006a 3. To create the stars mix some silver geleto or silver mica powder together with a little water, then taking a hard bristle brush flick the mixture lightly onto the piece.

0084. I have chosen to add this gorgeous sentiment from Enjoy Calligraphy . I love the large sentiments on this set as they can be the focus of the whole card.

Image 1To make the sentiment pop from the background I have heat embossed it in white.

012m5. To create more dimension add the star cluster around the edge of the inked piece using white ink.

And my finished card….

I have kept everything else white so the sentiment square is the star of the show. I really hope this helps you create a sky effect of your own and I would love to see it, so please leave me a comment so I can come a visit you 🙂
