Watercolor Salt Background

Hi there! Kristen here 🙂 I’m here today to show a fun card I created using one of the pieces from the Summertime Lovin’ Kit. I used an old technique with watercolor and salt to create the background. I was going for an underwater look and I think I definitely achieved it!!

I first added a wet wash to a piece of watercolor paper. I then came in with two different colors of paint from an inexpensive pallet I picked up from the craft store.  I then took some Kosher salt and sprinkled it all over the paper.

I let this air dry. When it was finished drying, I wiped off the excess salt. The salt was used to pick up paint to help the background look more like bubbles. Here is the final result!

To finish 0ff the card, I added twine to the base and also a cute image from the kit. It’s a fun and easy card to create! I really like how it turned out!  Below is the kit I used. It has some awesome pieces in it and not just for people who journal! 🙂

Show us what you can create on our Facbeook page! And thank you so much for stopping by the blog today!! See you next time!
