Hi, sweet friends! Suzanne here, with a mini notepad tutorial to share with you today! This project would be great for customizing school supplies, for the holidays, or just a small anytime gift for a friend!
To make this project, you’ll need:
- stamp sets of your choice (I’m using the “Stuck on This” set)
- smooth card stock strip (3.5″ x 11″)
- mini notepad (this one measures 3.25″ x 5.5″)
- 2 rectangles of patterned paper (measuring 3.5″ x 5.25″)
- decorative or washi tape
- strong adhesive/double stick tape
You can also change the dimensions of the cover for a different sized notepad. I happened to find the notepad I’m using in today’s tutorial at an office supply store in a 3-pack for a few dollars. I’ve also made a smaller version of this project to fit a square sticky note pad.
Start by layering your patterned paper on top of the card stock strip. Check to make sure your patterned paper will face the right way when the notepad cover is folded, especially if you’re using a striped paper.
Next, reinforce the place where the notepad cover folds by wrapping washi tape between the two card stock rectangles. You’ll see on the next photo that I left a bit of space between the two panels to allow the cover to flip open and closed easily.
I find it’s easier to keep the tape straight as you wrap it by leaving a little tail on one side to mark the end of the tape strip, then wrap the tail under when you fasten the tape to the inside of the cover.
To attach the notepad, I used some strong double stick tape and adhered the back of the notepad to the bottom inside of the cover.
Then, just add your stamped image to the front of the cover, stamp and adhere a sentiment if you’d like, and your gift is ready! A nice add-on would be a fun pen or mechanical pencil, and you’re all set!
When I make these, I don’t add dimensional embellishments in case the notepad will be carried in a backpack or purse. I also use strong double stick tape for each layer so the stamped images and designer paper don’t peel off!
Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed my tutorial today, and will make one (or a few) of these soon! Here’s a look at the stamp set that I used today, “Stuck on This“:
