Hello Everyone, Jenn here with my last post for my “For the Love of Type” series and my time with Sweet Stamp Shop is coming to an end. It is hard to believe it has already been three months since I introduced you to me and Mister Harley. I have had so much fun being part of this team and I truly hope I have inspired you to think about typography differently 🙂
To recap what I have shared so far
- how to create your own unique sentiments using the variety of alphabet stamps
- how to create unique sentiments by mixing sentiments from different sets
- how to create a fun background with a mix of different sentiments
- how to create fun wall art with your alphabet stamps
And today I want to share with you a reminder that WE have the most special kind of type there is. Our own handwriting. I can hear the grumbling now, “I hate my handwriting.”
You know what? You are your own worst critic and when a friend or family member sees your handwriting it immediately brings emotion. It is so special and so unique and in this day of technology being EVERYWHERE it is very rare. So, this is a gentle reminder to sometimes use your own handwriting to create your own unique sentiments.
I am not a HUGE fan of my own handwriting, and I struggle sometimes with how it looks. I even shared my frustrations the other night on instagram. I kept practicing the sentiments I wanted to use on scraps of paper I had on my studio table. I have a teeny addiction to pens. All different kinds and colors. For this project I chose to use one of my new favorites that I use in my Art Journal a lot. The Fude Ball pen.
I wanted to keep my card designs simple, so the sentiments really shined. Sweet Stamp Shop images are perfect for this. They can create little scenes or the images can stand alone and still be adorable.
When you write out your own sentiment you can be creative with the words you use, and you don’t have to worry about finding the perfect sentiment in a stamp. It may be late at night when you are creating (that is usually the case with me) and you need just the perfect words…
You can be serious, you can write out a private joke or you can even be funny!
I would love to see you use some of your handwriting on a card, leave a comment with a link to your creation- I will be sure to check it out!
I would also like to thank Nicole, Chrissie, everyone who was on the Sweet Design Team with me. Also, thank you to all the blog readers, for your sweet comments. Be sure to keep in touch with me on my blog HERE.
Goodbye for now from me and Mister Harley
