Just Add Glitter : dimensional background

‘Just Add Glitter’ … one of my favorite sentiments from the FOUR new releases that went live yesterday, so make sure to check those out! For this card I wanted to create a dimensional glittery background.

I tried several ways to do this, all involving a stencil, all creating a HUGE mess! So let me tell you what did and what didn’t work out for me.  For all these techniques I started the same way with a stencil taped down to hold it in place over a standard size white card base.

Glue – NO NO NO don’t even try it, huge mess and it smudged all under the design of the stencil

Embossing Paste – I found this to be too thick, hard to get smooth and it didn’t hold the glitter very well

White Acrylic Paint – This worked ok. It would do in pinch but again some of the paint sept under the stencil distorting the images

Gesso – WINNER WINNER, this by far worked the best for me. I just used some cheapy gesso from a local craft store, nothing fancy.

Here is a look at the result!

I also tried my hand at some Copic Coloring … using Elephant Hearts and Princess Wish
