Hey everyone, It’s Jenn here from shurkus.com with another post hopefully to inspire you to use your alpha stamps or better yet add some alpha stamps to your stash!
I love typography and letter forms. I am obsessed with nicely designed fonts and sentiments for my papercrafting. Sometimes you can’t find just the right sentiment to work with your card or you want to create a unique sentiment that will only mean something to the person you are creating the card for- this is when having a variety of alpha stamps on hand will come in handy!
One of the first sets from the Sweet Stamp Shop that I knew I NEEDED was this Outline Lower Alpha. I am a big fan of lowercase letters, I just think they are cuter and struggle all the time capitalizing my letters when I should. I love that this is an outline of a very clean font that way you can play with coloring in the letters or you could stamp them on pattern paper and cut them out. I used watercolor pencils to add color to my letters and the cute bear from Juggling Act.
The next card I created is featuring Sweet Stamp Shop’s Alpha Tabs. These are ADORABLE, mimicking a “dymo label” type look. Stamping these in fun bold colors really brings out the personality of this set. I recommend using a chalk type ink to get the best coverage. You could also top off the letters with some glossy accents to give them dimension. Pairing this “i luv u” sentiment with a wicked cute elephant from the Elephant Hearts set just seemed perfect to me. Again, I used watercolor pencils.
And last, but not least I just had to use the sweet little Koala stamp set. This time I colored him with watercolor pencils and paired it with Monogram Alpha. I love the thin weight of this font and how tall the letters are. “HAPPY DAY” seemed like a perfect sentiment to send a card to a friend just because.
What also would be really fun, and maybe I will show this in a future blog post is to mix the alpha sets together. Create a sentiment using Outline Lower Alpha and Monogram Alpha or Monogram Alpha and Alpha Tabs etc.
And lastly I just had to point out a MUST HAVE stamp set. I ADORE the Handcrafted stamp set. This is a staple item! If you are taking time to create handmade cards you need to be signing the back of your art pieces! I just love how creative and fun these “made by” stamps are- take a look for yourself
