Hey sweet friends! Today is part 2 of Think Once, Create Twice, where we’ll make two cards from one idea. (You can find part 1 here!) The last time we “thought once and created twice”, we created two birthday cards, but for different recipients. (One masculine, and one feminine.) Today we’re going to use the same layout – but for two totally different occasions. Are you ready to see the first card?!
Card number one is a simple, yet bright and bold birthday card. I used stamps from Elegant Sentiments (because I just can’t stop with that gorgeous cursive font) and I paired it with the banner from Announcing. This set is so versatile – I gotta tell you, it’s a GREAT set to have in your stash.
Another little idea that I’ve been using like crazy, are the dots that I stamped. I used the little circles from Happy Hour to add the finishing touch, but then I added some dimensional glaze on top – it makes perfect little faux enamel dots!
When I find a card layout that I really like, I often come back to it. It’s especially helpful when I’m in a creative rut. Sometimes I look through past cards I’ve created that I really liked, and it helps to get my crafting back in action. So for today’s Think Once, Create Twice I’ve used the same layout as my bright birthday card, to create another card – for a completely different purpose. Here we go!
Wow, totally different, right?! This card is super soft and sweet. I have a friend who’s about to have a baby, and much to my impatience, she and her husband are not finding out whether it’s a boy or a girl. (It’s driving ME insane!) I figure this will be the perfect card to welcome the new baby, with pink and blue. You might notice I added some more “faux enamel dots”, plus some glossy hearts to this card. I colored the banner in with colored pencils to keep it as soft as can be.
So there you have it – two totally different cards using the same formula. Stretch your creativity by rethinking the stamps in your stash and challenge yourself to use them in a new way!
