Making a Landscape

sketchesWelcome to another fun day on the Sweet blog!  It’s Chrissy and I’m here with your extra special peek at the upcoming CAS(E) this Sketch challenge and two unique takes on that sketch.  I hope you are ready for them.  First up, here’s the sketch:

CTS_Sketch_70Pretty fun sketch isn’t it?  Well, the only thing more fun than this sketch is the awesome stamps I got to use to create my two takes.  First up, I used Announcing to make this cute card.

announcingSSS_S2WMar3WMI love how the banner nestles perfectly inside the wooden frame and popping up those sweet flags from the Announcing set, really makes this card pop!  I finished it all off with a flower which I layered on some chipboard leaves.  I little banner with “New Baby” just ensures that you know that this is a baby card.  😉  I hope you like it!

For my next take, I used one of my favorite sets of all time, Kitty Cat.

KittyCatI felt like this little furball needed a little scene to ground her on the card.  It was time to build a landscape!

SSS_S2WMar4WMI started with a piece of cloud patterned paper and I attached it to a pocket scrap booking card to give it a firm base.  I then used a cloud die to cut some clouds out of the packaging leftover from enamel dots I bought the other day.  I liked that the packaging was thicker than patterned paper and would add a little extra dimension.  I cut the two hills out of other patterned paper that led me in the direction of a more monochromatic card.  I attached all these layers to my pocket card, trimmed it all to fit, and rounded the corners.  I love how it looks like a pocket card but with a little landscape that I had created on my own.  I layered my Kitty Cat on the card, gave him a little tear, and stamped on my sentiment from the Just The Basics set.  I chose the background paper to fit my monochromatic look, layered it all up, and tossed on some enamel dots for a little fun.  It’s amazing how a little hint of landscape can really help ground an image.  I hope you will give it a try.  This sketch just seemed like the perfect opportunity to give it a go!

I hope you enjoyed my takes on this week’s sketch and I hope to see you on my blog for a sneak peek of my CAS(E) this Sketch card for the week.  I’d also love to see you over at the Sweet Stamp Shop Facebook page and YouTube channel.  Nicole always has fun stuff going on and we LOVE to hear what you guys are thinking.  So share!  Tell us what you’d like to see given the “Sweet” treatment and turned into a stamp set.  Have you made something lately using a Sweet Stamp Shop set and you just LOVE how it turned out?  Let us know!  It would be great to add your card to our Pinterest boards and while your at it, why not follow us there too!  We love to hear from you and see that you guys love these stamps as much as we do.  Thanks for everything and see you next time!-Chrissy
