Happy Tuesday! Chrissy here and I hope you all are having a wonderful week. Iowa is finally starting to thaw and I think we might actually get outside and enjoy some sunshine this week. I sure hope so! Today I’m going to take you on a trip outside the box of our sketch. I’m usually pretty good with ensuring you can still see the sketch when you look at my card but sometimes, I get a little crazy and that is okay too!
First up, here’s your peek at the sketch that is coming up on Thursday at CAS(E) this Sketch. It’s a bit different but is super fun to play with. I hope you will like it.
You’ll notice that the sketch has quite a few layers to it. My first card uses all these layers as well as one of the cutest stamp sets in the whole world, Doggy Dog.
I used a pocket scrapbooking card as my large banner layer and then cut the top and banner out of another pocket card for my second little banner. The oval is represented by the sweetest little pup in the world. I finished the card off with a couple balls and enamel dots just to add a bit of extra interest. As you can see, it’s a pretty literal translation of the sketch but Doggy Dog makes it anything but ordinary!
My second card might stretch your idea of the sketch a bit but as long as the sketch was the inspiration, I’m ok with that. 😉 I used the Speech Bubbles stamp set for this card. I just adore this set and all the awesome bubble shapes.
The first thing I did was to flop the sketch on the side. The large banner is represented by the large “hello” die while the oval/banner is represented by my Speech Bubble with hearts. I wanted to keep this cleaner than the last so I only added one fleck of bling to the heart. I hope you can see the sketch in this card. I know it’s a little less literal but sometimes, you have to take the sketch for what it is worth, a guideline, and enjoy the creativity that ensues. I ended up loving both of these cards and I hope you do too!
If you liked these two cards, you will love my 3rd but you will have to visit me at my blog to see that. 😉 You’ll also want to check out my blog for an awesome surprise courtesy of Nicole and Sweet Stamp Shop.
