Hello Sweet Friends! It’s Charlene here, getting all inky with some new crafting goodies. I have been meaning to try out the Gelli plate, but hesitated. But after watching on Youtube all the cool stuff that people have come up with, I caved and finally got it. Here’s the thing, I only have one bottle of acrylic paint in my stash, and it’s a tiny one. But it’s ok, you don’t need a lot of paint to get this project going.
Before you get started, make sure you have a small container of soapy water for your stencil and stamp.
Here’s my stash: Left: Gelli plate, my tiny bottle of paint, brayer…not pictured are navy blue cardstock, stencil, and flower stamp (Elegant Flowers).
Right: This is for illustration only. The paint dries fast, so this is not the actual print that I used….Now the fun part. Place a drop of paint onto the plate and spread using a brayer then add stencil/stamp and place a card stock on top to create an impression.
I created two cards using this technique. First up is this card where I place a stencil (little bubbles) on a coat of white paint, stamp the flowers randomly, then placed a card stock on top. The background looks very subtle, but interesting. I kept the rest of the card fairly simple to highlight the background.
Next up is just stamping right onto the paint…then heat embossed the sentiment in a happy yellow embossing powder.
I hope you’ll give this technique a try and share your creations with us. Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a great day!
