Hello, sweet friends! I have breaking news…the awesome 40% sale off your stamp purchase at the Sweet Stamp Shop has been extended through this weekend until Monday! Be sure to stop by the Sweet Stamp Shop and use coupon code BSF40 to take advantage of this awesome sale before it ends!
It’s Judy here today, with my final post as a fall design team member at the Sweet Stamp Shop. What a great experience it has been! And, what better way to wrap up my “Designer Spotlight” series than to shine the spotlight on the superbly talented and over-the-top sweet Barb Engler!
Barb’s blog, Enjoying Life, is full of inspiring posts. Her cards range from classy to graphic to CAS to multi-medium. She does it all, and she does it all WELL! Not only does she make amazing cards, but she manages to faithfully visit and comment on the posts of all of her followers (and more)! Barb was on the design team at Lily Pad and was a Hero Hostess at Hero Arts. She has also been a Fab 5 Winner at Hero Arts five times! Barb has also been guest designer for Simon Says Stamp and A Blog Named Hero, and she has won multiple challenges at the Play Date Cafe and Fusion. Basically, Barb has the Midas touch…everything she touches turns to gold! I am always amazed at Barb’s ability to master any style of card-making. She isn’t afraid to try new products and new techniques and she is truly an inspiration to me. If you haven’t already (and chances are, you have, if you are one of her 300+ followers), go check out her blog so you can see how amazing she is for yourself!
Barb agreed to let me CASE one of her recent cards, and I was immediately drawn to her pretty holiday card (blogged HERE):
Here is my card inspired by Barb’s:
Barb also answered a few questions for our readers, and her words are full of wisdom!
Q: About how many cards do you make, on average, in one week?
A: It depends on a couple of things – my work schedule and whether or not I’ve got some mojo going. What usually happens is, I’ll make a bunch of cards, maybe four to six in a week, then I totally loose my mojo for a few days. When that happens, I try to at least stamp and color some images, or play with inks and paints. Eventually I come up with another idea and I’m back creating again.
Q: What is your favorite stamping technique?
A: Oh, my gosh, there are so many I love! It’s difficult to choose just one. I do love to emboss and use the resist technique with Distress Inks and Stains. I am also really loving using stencils right now – not only with ink but with embossing paste.
Q: What advice would you like to share with beginning stampers?
A: This is a great question. To answer, I thought back to when I first started creating cards. Try to learn as much as you can about inks and stamps. Go on-line to watch card-making videos and learn about different, fun techniques. Find out what basic supplies you’ll need to get started. The more information you have, the more you’ll enjoy this awesome hobby!
Please stop by Barb’s blog (Enjoying Life) and leave her some love! Thank you, Barb, for allowing me to spotlight you today for my last Sweet Stamp Shop designer post…it has been a pleasure!
Be sure to share your own Sweet Stamp Shop creations with us in our Flickr group…we’d love to see what you are up to!
Have a sweet day!
